I just found an article on a blog called Eleventh Stack. The blog is well worth checking out, not least for the fact that there is a great post on the fairy tales of Herman Hesse. Like everyone else, I read his most famous books, like Siddhartha and Steppenwolf, during junior high. Although, I have to be honest, I only read Steppenwolf because I loved the band by the same name since I was like 10 years old. Then of course, there's the world-class Steppenwolf Theatre in Chicago, which was formed by people like Gary Sinise. John Malkovich also worked there.
But, as is so often the case with me, I digress. I'm just excited that I've found a new source of fairy tales, thanks to the Eleventh Stack, which, by the way, is the blog for the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh. (Pittsburgh, by the way, is one of the greatest cities in America.)
You've never been to Pittsburgh? You should go.
Just follow the Eleventh Stack link for all the links and info you'll need.
