Hey! Why Am I Blocked?

You may be a perfectly decent, honest, kind, considerate person who just happens to like fairy tales -- I'm sure you are. The vast majority of people who come here, follow here, and post here are terrific. Unfortunately, while Blog of Note has brought D&T some wonderful new followers and terrific, thoughtful new friends, it has also brought some really horrible junk with it. I will not get into that.
I also, clearly, did not understand the Google follower mechanism in all its myriad potential and pitfalls. I never had this problem before. I also have never considered highly restrictive comment moderation before, but I am almost there.
I never thought I would need to block a follower. Until today, I honestly didn't really know that I could. I had stopped checking followers a few months ago, but only because I didn't have time to follow up followers and say, "Hey, thanks for following my blog." I won't even begin to explain how badly I misunderstood the order in which new followers show up on D&T.
I won't rattle on about computer viruses, etc. Suffice it to say that monitoring D&T has gotten a whole lot harder. Let me make this clear: Diamonds and Toads is a blog for my students, fairy tale fans, scholars, other people's students, writers, and artists.
So if I "defollowed" you unfairly, I am sorry, truly I am, but I will be doing a lot of monitoring, and I may make the wrong decision. I'll keep on trying. If you are truly interested in fairy tales and the topics at hand, hang in there with me. You are welcome here.

Hi Kate,
I cam across your blog through the blogs of note.
I am relatively new to the world of blogging, and I was hoping to contact with you to find out the things you have learned- I don't quite understand the whole following ettique- or any others, for that matter- and was wondering if you could share a bit of your insight with me? I'm sure you're probably getting a lot of comments and questions about this, but would really appreciate it.

you don't have to approve this comment or post it to your blog, i just wanted to send a note your way. thank you so much!

Hey Kate, I love fairy tales but I would truly understand your wish to keep traffic low. I'm sorry for the trouble you have had. I love your blog and will treat it with the repect it deserves. Thank you for allowing some of us access and will truly understand if I am denied one day.

Wow... What a shame. I never thought being a Blog of Note could be such a problem... Anyway, I find your blog very interesting and inspirational at times, and I hope you manage to keep it all in check :)

Hello there! I think you're totally right when you block some people. I just want you to know that I've just created my blog and yours was the first I followed. It's amazing! So keep it up! (Y)

Hi, I'd just like to say I came upon your blog by accident and it's very lovely, I've really enjoyed spending time here. And this post and the next has been really helpful to me, thank you so much. I have been put off writing recently by comments left on my blog that contain nothing but rubbish and innuendo. So thank you so much, it has helped me to realise that it is not just me these people have targeted.

That seems like a real headache... but then again, that's what the internet is sometimes!

Your blog is lovely though, and anyone here for any other reason than those you stated should be banned, because they're just looking to cause trouble.

I don't follow your blog, I just have it bookmarked so I can read it all the time... just because (annoyingly) there is evidentally a 300 blog follow limit.

I love reading your work though, and I will continue to 'follow' you through my bookmark :)

Don't worry if you defollow me :) I like your blog and I can always follow by adding you to my favorite list without being a follower.
I followed just to let you know that your site is loved.
I have an almost 9 months old baby and as she starts to understand I want to tell her a story every night before sleep. And I adore fairy tales so your blog is just perfect for me to find nice stories to tell her.
Bye and a little wave from my baby.
